Morgan Township has its own set of zoning regulations, independent of Butler County. Zoning came to Morgan Township by a voter referendum in November 1988. Morgan Township decided to hire its own zoning administrator to oversee its zoning in 1995.

Zoning Enforcement
The Zoning Commission acts as the policy-making and planning body for the township’s land-use rules. They are responsible for updating the Comprehensive Land Use plan and propose amendments to zoning regulations. While the board of trustees make the final decision, the Commission makes recommendations to the Zoning Administrator and Trustees. They meet the 1st Wednesday of each month.

The Board of Zoning Appeals interprets land-use rules and grants exceptions when appropriate. The BZA evaluates hardship, practical difficulty, impact on neighbors and whether the spirit of the zoning code is still upheld. They meet on an as-needed basis.
